When we think of our parents and our hometown a smile blooms in our face automatically.I am exactly in the same mood now.Starting to India.Thats why i was not able to post any recipes since last week.Got loads of work like shopping,packing,telling to friends,preparing food items for my honey..and what not.
Ok,friends i will be back in a month and will definitely share many delicious food recipes with you.If i have time i will post some of my mom's recipes from India.hope to see you all soon.

Stuffed IvyGuard
Everytime i make IvyGuard in the same way,just cutting and frying.I wanted to try something different with Ivy Guard and i found this recipe from Malika Badrinath Book.
With few alterations this came out so good.Try this and let me know your valuable comments.
Ingredients:
Ivy Guard---------------12
Tamarind paste----------1/2 spoon
Turmeric Powder---------1/4 spoon
For Stuffing:
Coconut-----------------3 spoons
Chutney gram------------1 1/2 spoon
cumin-------------------3/4 spoon
Dhania------------------1 1/2 spoon
Red chilli--------------6 or 7
asafoetida--------------1/4 spoon
Procedure:
Wash and cut the corners of the Ivy Guard and cut into two pieces if the vegetable is so long.
Make a slit in the center on one side .
Cook this in tamarind water along with turmeric Powder and salt.
Meanwhile grind all the ingredients for stuffing.
When the vegetable is cooked,heat the pan and fry the cooked vegetable till it turns brown.
Remove from oil and let it cool down.
Fry the grounded paste so that it comes separated and remove from heat.
Now put this stuffing in the slit of the vegetable.
This is so tasty and i bet all will like this.We can have this with Rasam Rice or Dhal Rice.

Green Peas Bath and an award

I am so happy to share with you guys a very easy and yummy recipe.This recipe belongs to one of my best friend Krupa.She is a very cute girl who still admires mickey mouse and Donald Duck.She is indeed a great cook too.We went to her home for dinner and she made this.No surprise we all fell love with this rice.My husband liked this a lot and i made this for his birthday.
While posting this i also wanted to share a few words about "We",i mentioned in the first paragraph.We are four sweet friends(Shri,Gayathri,Sajana and Krupa) married and living in the same block. We are like a family now and all the girls are cured from their home sick.Touch Wood!Thank God for making us know each other and we pray that this relation should last forever.
Ok,here is the recipe,:)
Ingredients:
Basmati Rice------------2 cups
Chopped Cilantro--------2 cups
Coconut-----------------1/4 cup
Green Chili-------------2
Ginger Garlic Paste-----2 spoons.
Cinnamon (optional)-----1 stick
Cloves------------------4 or 5
Green Peas--------------1 cup
Tomato------------------2
Onion-------------------1
Salt
Procedure
Cook the Basmati rice and keep it separately.
Grind the cilantro,coconut,chili,ginger garlic paste,cinnamon,cloves as a paste like chutney.
Heat the pan with little ghee and oil and fry onion,tomato.
When the onion is pinkish,add the green peas.If you are a big fan for peas you can add little more than i have mentioned.
Then add the grounded paste and allow it to cook.
Mix it thoroughly with salt and let it cook till the aroma arises.
Now add the cooked rice and mix it well.
Thats it..Ta da.your rice is ready.

When i saw Lakshmi's Comic event,i was impressed and wanted to do something.But my bad,i didn't note down the due date.My good,i noticed that yesterday was the last date.So i created my comic and sent it to Lakshmi,though i could not post it in my blog.Lakshmi sent me the tips to post the comic in my blog.Thanks Lakshmi.

YogurtKeerai


Spinach is very good for healthy ,but it is boring to just cook and eat it without spices.Here is a simple tasty dish with Yogurt.Spinach and yogurt are good in protein.My mom usually makes this and i love this dish .Last week i made this for my husband and obviously,he loved it.Here you go,
Ingredients:
Spinach-----------------3 cups
Curd--------------------2 cups
Green chili-------------1 or 2
Coconut-----------------3/4 cup
Salt
Procedure:
Cook the spinach with little salt.
After the spinach is cooked,add the coconut,green chili along with little cumin seeds and grind them together.
Mix the grounded paste with curd allow it to cook.
Add little salt and cook,till it perticipate.
Garnish it with little mustard seeds.
Thats it ,you can have this with hot rice with some thuvayal or potato fry.

Beetroot Halwa
Yesterday was my husband's birthday.June is his auspicious month.Both the important days,wedding day and birthday comes so close in the same month.He loves sweet a lot.So i make sweets very often.Then how come i can miss his birthday?I made Beetroot Halwa and he loved it.He will eat carrot,beetroot only in the form of Halwa.This is so good and little bit healthy.Here you go ,
Ingredients:
Grated Beetroot---------------------1 cup
Milk--------------------------------2 1/2 cup
Sugar-------------------------------1 3/4 cup
Cardamom Powder---------------------1 spoon
Ghee--------------------------------2 spoons.
cashews.
Procedure:
Grate the beetroot with small hole grater.
Then add beetroot and milk and allow the beetroot to get cooked in the milk.
When the beetroot is almost cooked add the sugar,cardamom powder and ghee and start stirring continuously.
You can see the halwa coming out of the vessel.
Remove immediately from the heat and garnish with cashews.

Happy Day with semiya Payasam
Yesterday was a memorable and important day in my life.It was my first wedding anniversary.I couldn't believe it is one year,i got married.The days went so fast.Married life is so different from our spinster life.Lots of fun,laugh,little quarrels,tears,hugs....what not.I have learned a lot in this period.I have got many relatives,friends and this lovely blog.I have cooked just once before marraige but now cooking daily and in the position of sharing my recipes with friends.This is something great.I should really appreciate my honey for tasting all of my dishes.So on this happy day i made good food for him which included sambhar,rasam,poriyal,fries and the sweet semiya payasam.
We really liked it and i thought i will share my happiness with my dear bloggers.
Here comes the recipe
Ingredients:
Semiya---------------3/4 cup
Milk-----------------1 1/2 cup
Sugar----------------1 3/4 cups
ghee-----------------2 spoons
condensed milk-------1/4 cup
cashews--------------7 to 8
water----------------2 cups
Procedure:
Heat the ghee and fry the broken cashews and keep aside.
Then fry the semiya till it turns golden brown.
Add water to it and allow it to cook.
when the semiya is almost cooked,add the milk and sugar and stir it continuously.
When everything gets mixed add the condensed milk and stir it.
In few minutes it will be cooked and will be ready to overflow.
Remove from heat and garnish with cashews.
You can taste the yummy semiya payasam.I bet this will be the simple and best dessert.
